Namaqua and Cape MTB and GameTour…
The Namaqua Quest is set in the Namaqua Karoo, a hot spot in South Africa. Here you will find the most beautiful annual flowers. This hidden gem in South Africa is a must see; imagine a desert covered in flowers. Come and experience this unreal landscape while taking part in a world class MTB event. The fun doesn’t stop there as we travel back to the Cape to see the Big Five in luxury accommodation and have a final ocean view in the Cape Waterfront.
Dates during the annual 3 Day MTB event in beginning September
Day 1: Land in the morning in Cape Town and drive through to Blouberg Strand, a mere 29km form the Airport, to the Kumbaya House B&B for a relaxing afternoon by the beach and a traditional evening braai.
Day 2: Wake up bright and early for breakfast and a scenic drive through the Namaqua Karoo to Springbok in the Northern Cape. In Springbok you will find your tented accommodation for the Namaqua Quest with another evening braai under the African starry sky.
Day 3: A slow morning with a hearty breakfast before setting off on some sightseeing around Springbok. Take a camera along for some photos because no one will believe you that a desert can have so much life. After playing tourist we will go to the registration for the Namaqua Quest and have the remaining part of the day to check gear and bicycles before the race begins the following day.
Day 4: Start of the Namaqua Quest MTB with the Schaap River stage of 70km. After the ride enjoy good food and good company and share some war stories. A slide and video show will be shown each evening of your day’s ride
Day 5: Stage 2 of the Namaqua Quest MTB to Goegap Nature reserve with 68km MTB.
Day 6: Final day of the Namaqua Quest to Old Copper Rail, 51km. Enjoy the prize giving after the race and say goodbyes to the other riders as we take the road to Aquila Nature Reserve in Touws River. Here we will enjoy a nice evening dinner and luxury accommodation.
Day 7: Wake up to the surrounding wildlife and maybe even see a lion. Today we enjoy a 3 hour game drive with a catered lunch while trying to spot a leopard.
Day 8: Another 3 hour game drive so you can spot those animals you missed. Have the afternoon to choose any activity such horseback riding or quad biking through the game reserve or just relax in the lapa and do some bird watching.
Day 9: Check out of Aquila and drive to Camps Bay for a day of self-exploration along the beaches and stores while enjoying the night’s stay in Ocean view House B&B.
Day 10: Last day to experience Cape Town on the Hop on and Hop Off buses that will take you through the streets of Cape Town on a guided tour stopping at Table Mountain and many other land marks. Finish off this amazing tour with a dinner in the Cape Waterfront and cheers to a great holiday.
Day 11: Time to fly back from Cape Town International Airport.
