Trail Girl Weekend Blast

EMG_4134

Trail Girl weekend, this is what you get when you combine a bunch of ladies, the exquisite setting of the wilderness trails and good exercise. Trisport launched the first Trail girl weekend which saw close on 100 ladies of all ages and walks of life come together to experience two days of South Africa’s beautiful Garden Route running trails. An exciting concept, one most certainly worth adding to the calendar. Whether you wish to tackle the weekend on your own, bring your girl mates or run as a mother/daughter team the weekend will leave you inspired, empowered and asking for more. Day 1 took the ladies on a 22km rugged route starting at the base of the Outeniqua Mountains in Saasveld. One can only truly take away the beauty of the indigenous forests, river crossings and mountain backdrops in actually experiencing it. With the perfect combinations of gnarly single track, decent ascents in and out of the forests, your senses are enlightened and a close encounter with nature is felt. Day 1 is challenging and the distances should not be underestimated but can be taken in a stride that suits your personal fitness level. The accomplishment is greatly awarded, as only ladies deserve, runners are treated to open air messages on the banks of the Fairy Knowe Hotel with a choice of cocktails to let the mind reflect on the day. Trisport don’t stop at that and provided excellent evening entertainment and energy replacing scrumptious meals. Cocktails the night before can be guilt free and indulged as Day 2 brings upon a peaceful 14km. This commences on the beach and a perfect way to warm up those legs before a gradual climb, which shows off the Wilderness views in all its early light glory. The excitement of Day 2 is crossing the Touwsriver by pontoon, a nicely added touch for the adventure souls. Trail Girl has the created the perfect combination for ladies to unite together in the outdoors and enjoy the beauty of superb trails, well marked routes, excellent company, fun and all round not to be missed weekend getaway. As MC Vanessa Sandes said: “its important we join together as women and reconnect with each other to become stronger and enjoy the time together as ladies only” We hope to see you next year. Entries open 1 June 2016.
