Airport pick up from George Airport can be arranged at an additional cost of R200 pp per trip.
Day 1: Meet at Pine Creek River Resort at 7am. 65km MTB ride from Great Brakriver to Herbertsdale, overnight at Dwarsrivier Country Getaway where dinner will be provided. The 1st day you will climb for 1414m from sea level to the Guesthouse that is situated in the Langeberge. Dwarsrivier Country Guesthouse has comfortable chalets overlooking the valley and it’s own pub where you can enjoy a well deserved beer/cold drink and enjoy supper with the fire burning.
Day 2: 75km MTB ride from Herbertsdale to the 4 star Rooiberg Lodge in Van Wyksdorp, departure from Dwarsrivier Country Getaway after breakfast. Here you will have the opportunity to enjoy some good downhills and a climb after crossing the Gourits River. Rooiberg Lodge is situated in a Game Reserve, more than 1000m above sea level, between the Langeberge and the Rooiberge, where you will enjoy seeing some wildlife while we cycle towards the lodge. You also have the option of going go for a game drive at sunset.
Day 3: 76km MTB ride from Van Wyksdorp to Oudtshoorn, departure from Rooiberg Lodge to De Zeekoe Guesthouse. Day 3 will most definitely test your endurance for climbing, but do keep in mind what goes up must come down. Just switch to granny gear and you will get there. Today we will cross the Rooiberge and experience the beautiful views of the Swartberge in the distance. Once we get to the 4 star De Zeekoe Guestfarm, you will be able to cool down in the swimming pool, book a massage or just relax at the bar overlooking the Olifants River or in your chalets/ room. The staff at De Zeekoe will spoil you with a refreshing drink while you relax, thereafter you will enjoy a delicious hearty dinner.
Day 4: 60km MTB ride from Oudtshoorn to Herold. This early morning rise is well worth it, where you watch the sun rise in the veld with the meerkat guide, waiting for the meerkats to wake up and come out of their holes. You’ll get to experience the meerkats behaviour first hand and only a few meters away. At about 8am, you will be able to enjoy a De Zeekoe breakfast, ready to leave by 9am. Our next overnight stop will be at Hildesheim Guesthouse or Harold Wine Farm Cottages (group depended), in Harold, a small little town in the Outeniqua mountains. During day 4, we will start to make our way back into the mountains towards Glentana. This route takes you through beautiful, unspoilt scenery. If you don’t hear the river flowing, you will see the grand cliffs on either one of your sides. It is the shortest day of the 5 days, so we can take it easy and enjoy the scenery.
Day 5: 70km MTB ride from Herold to Pepperboom Restaurant, Great Brakriver. After breakfast, we will depart and cycle a short distance (about 5km) from Harold to the top of Montagu Pass, thereafter enjoying the beautiful scenery of the sea and the mountains while we descend the famous old Montagu Pass. This will definitely be the most exhilarating and fun downhill you will have on the route – going down Montagu Pass you will have the chance to break your own speed records (if you like). We will then cycle along the “forest highway” which is a beautiful jeep track that runs along the Outeniqua mountains towards Jonkersberg Forest station. From there we will start to descent towards the Peperboom Restaurant, Great Brakriver
