The Wreck Challenge take place in the well known place called, Glentana. The non stop beach stretch from Glentana to Mosselbay is almost 30 km long. Glentana is more a village than a town on the Indian Ocean coast. It is to the southwest of George in the Western Cape province of South Africa.
The village was established in the early 20th century, when the first houses in the area were built. The origin of the town’s name is unclear, but it is believed to be related to a kind of whiskey brewed in Northern Scotland which carries the same name.
The Wreck Challenge will Start and Finish from the Main Beach in Glentana. The longer run, will be from the Main beach towards Great Brak river Mouth and then all the way to the Glentana Wreck and back to Glentana Main Beach. The Wreck Challenge will be just from the Main Beach in Glentana to the Glentana Wreck and back. It will be on spring low tide and the sand will therefore be hard to run on. Late entries welcome.
