Glentana is a village on the Indian Ocean coast to the southwest of George in the Western Cape province of South Africa.
The village was established in the early 20th century, when the first houses in the area were built. The origin of the town’s name is unclear, but it is believed to be related to a kind of whiskey brewed in Northern Scotland which carries the same name.
In 1902 a dry dock was being towed from London, England to Durban, SA when it broke free during a storm and washed up along the Garden Route coast. It’s pretty much only accessible during low tides, walking about 45 minutes from Glentana. The 4,5km FUN Run is a flat run on the beach and goes all the way to the Glentana Wreck and back with lots of Oyster Catchers and beautiful scenery on the way to look at.
The Wreck Challenge is a FUN run race. There is a 1.5km or 4.5km fun beach run to choose from, so the whole family can join. Every Finisher will get a Wreck Challenge Medal. Winners will get their prizes as they finish
