The first day of RCS SOX 2016 was a huge success with a total of 280 runners lining up for the first 30km and 20km leg of this event that stretched from Karatara to Farleigh.
With the event in its fifth year it also offered runners a Lite option (20km vs the full 30km) today which was very well received.
In the Lite category Nicholas Moult claimed the honours with a time of 1:39:34, while Olympian Elana Meyer was the first female finishing with 1:44:56. Jacques Jansen van Rensburg (Meyer’s husband) stepped over the finish line with her to be the second male.
In the full event, race favourites Lucky Miya and Thabang Elias Madiba claimed the team event (2:34:51), while power couple Christiaan (2:38:38) and Landie (2:53:57) Greyling were respectively the winners in the men and female categories.
Tomorrow, runners of the Lite event will be doing 10km while the full RCS SOX will be stretched out over 30km. This second leg will be a circular route with runners starting, and ending, at Millwood.
