RCS Trail Run

(Carla Hougaard)

Day two of RCS SOX 2016 kicked off on a very chilly winter’s morning. Runners gathered at Millwood, which is located inside a SANParks area, to tackle the circular route.

For day two, the SOX Lite runners enjoyed a 10km route while the full SOX runners had to endure a challenging 30km.

Day one’s results were almost replicated during the second day and Christiaan and Landie Greyling again took top honours in the open male and women’s categories of the full RCS SOX with times of 2:31:28 and 2:47:54.

The open female team event was won by Magretha Wang and Taryn Pringle (3:49:01) while the men’s team victory went to Lucky Miya and Thabang Madiba with a time of 2:28:56.

The open mixed team event was once again won by Tish Jones and Nic de Beer (2:43:45).

The results of yesterday’s SOX Lite were mirrored today with the winners being Nicholas Moult (47:32:94) and Elana Meyer (49:44:87).

Day two also played host to the 10km and 30km Circles in the Forest race of which the 30km event was won by Wayne Liddell in a time of 3:06:24 and Tanya Mackay-Davidson (3:20:25), and the 10km by Bongane Ferreira (48:13:16) and Vicky van der Merwe (48:18:41).

The third and final day of RCS SOX 2016 is referred to as the coastal/river stage and runners will depart from the Carmel caravan park to the race finish at the Ebb-and-Flow rest camp.
