3-Day/3 Night Tsitsikamma MTB Tour
Info on the tour
Routes will vary between 35 and 50km a day.
A relaxed group will cover about 35km to 50km on a morning ride, with an elevation gain of 200 to 1100 metres. More advanced riders can cover up to 50km with an elevation gain of up to 1100 meters. The aim is to ride 3-5 hours per day at an easy-going pace with a midmorning picnic stop. The guides will pace the ride to suit the abilities of the riders.

Day 1: Welcome to Base camp
14:00 Check-in at Firefly Falls Accommodation in your luxury tented accommodation
17:00 A quick orientation prepares you for the adventure ahead. You will receive containers for gear, and assistance is available for bicycle preparations.
18:00 The evening progresses with a relaxed African braai experience in the lapa – a convivial setting for shared stories and laughter. Retire to your exclusive tented accommodations, surrounded by the comforting sounds of the wilderness. The crisp night air sets the stage for a restful night’s sleep, ensuring everyone is energized for the thrilling trails awaiting them.
Day 2: Stormsriver to Mountain Biocamp
7:00 A light breakfast at Firefly Falls. You will have the opportunity to meet their knowledgeable guide, who will assist in checking the equipment and getting the team ready for the ride.
8:00 You and your bikes will be shuttled off to the starting point.
9:00 Cycle through MTO Forestry and indigenous sections of Storms River, culminating in a final climb to the Tsitsikamma Mountain Biocamp. Along the route, you will be served lunch overlooking the mountainside amidst the natural beauty.
13:00 Upon arrival, friendly staff welcome you to the camp. The camp is situated a short walk from the Lottering River – a perfect spot for a refreshing swim. The rest of the day invites relaxation, with riders enjoying the mountain vistas.
18:00 Dinner is served overlooking the tranquil mountains, far from the hustle and bustle, providing an ideal setting to appreciate the brightness of the stars. It’s a night of rest and rejuvenation, preparing participants for the next day of exhilarating riding.
Day 3: Mountains to Bloukrans Gorge Biocamp
7:00 Breakfast for the day ahead.
8:00 The journey unfolds as you descend from the mountainous terrain to the coastal escarpment. Throughout most of the day, we will hug the edge of the escarpment just above the infamous Otter Trail, reveling in breathtaking coastal views. Pedal your way to the Bloukrans River Gorge, before turning inland. The route then takes you through the historic Bloukrans Pass, offering a quick swim at the river crossing. After this refreshing stop, you tackle the long hill out of the valley, close to the end. The day concludes at the Bloukrans River Gorge Biocamp, strategically positioned to overlook the mouth of the Bloukrans River as it meets the Indian Ocean. The vistas extend towards Plettenberg Bay and the Robberg Peninsula, providing a captivating backdrop for relaxation.
18:00 Here, as on the previous night, you can unwind with stunning ocean views, creating the perfect ambiance for a memorable evening.
Day 4: Bloukrans to Nature’s Valley

8:00 On the final day, Day 4 of the Tour, you will wake up just above the vast expanse of the ocean, ready to tackle the last leg of your journey, our Champagne Stage. The day kicks off with a more leisurely flat ride, allowing you to savor the coastal air and the beauty of the surroundings. We will navigate through forestry, transitioning to community-built trails winding through indigenous fynbos.
The route then takes you towards Natures Valley, a serene destination nestled between lush greenery. As you descend into the valley, you are treated to a stunning lookout point offering panoramic views down into the valley. You will tackle yet another river pass down and through Natures Valley, nestled between the ocean and Afromontane forests.
12:00 The day’s riding concludes out of the valley back to Fireflys where your cars are parked, and where we will gather for a celebratory snack and drinks, reflecting on the epic adventure we have just completed.
Add another evening at Firefly Falls and enjoy and wind down after an epic journey before heading home the following day.

How to get there
Start and Finish: Firefly Falls Accommodation and Adventure
If you are coming from a major city, such as Cape Town or George, take the N2 highway towards Knysna. The nearest town to Firefly Falls is likely to be Plettenberg Bay or Knysna, depending on the exact location of the accommodation.
From Knysna:
Take the N2 Highway: Head east on the N2 highway towards Plettenberg Bay. This is the main route connecting Knysna to other towns along the Garden Route.
Continue on the N2: Stay on the N2 for approximately 20 kilometers (about 12 miles). You will pass through scenic landscapes, including forests and coastal views.
Look for the Turnoff: Depending on the specific location of Firefly Accommodation, you may need to look for a turnoff towards the R340 or Rheenendal Road. If you have the exact address or GPS coordinates, input them into your navigation system for precise directions.
Follow Local Roads: After exiting the N2, follow the local roads as directed by your GPS or map. This may involve traveling on gravel or dirt roads, so ensure your vehicle is suitable for these conditions.
Arrive at Firefly Accommodation: Continue following the signs or GPS directions until you reach Firefly Accommodation

Participation Requirements for Riders
- This tour is strictly for intermediate riders. NO beginners will be accepted.
- Experienced E-Bike riders are welcome.
- Participants aged 65 and older must ride E-Bikes.
- The maximum age for participation is 75 years.
Tour Classification and Fitness Expectations
- This is classified as a non-technical tour with no drops.
- However, to ensure an enjoyable experience, you must be able to maintain an average speed of 15 to 18 km/h over a 40 km route on an MTB or E-MTB.
- You must have experience riding on rough jeep tracks with water damage, ruts, and holes.
- You must be able to ride steep down hills, not walk them
- You must be able to cycle up hills, not walk them
- You must be able to ride single track sections
- We cannot accommodate individuals who are unfit or inexperienced, as one person’s inability to keep up can negatively impact the entire group.
Important
- Please ensure you are fit enough or riding an E-Bike, and that you know how to ride an E-Bike confidently.
- Failure to meet these requirements will result in your inability to participate in the group ride. Trisport cannot take responsibility for you not adhering to the above.

Day 1
Stormsriver to Mountain Biocamp

Day 1 of the Tsitsikamma MTB Tour begins with a light breakfast at Firefly Falls, setting the stage for a day of adventure. Guests have the opportunity to meet their knowledgeable guide, who will assist in checking the equipment and getting the team ready for the ride. The group will then be shuttled off to the starting point, a mountainous ride traversing the foothills of the Tsitsikamma Mountains. The remainder of the journey winds through MTO Forestry and indigenous sections, culminating in a final climb to the Tsitsikamma Mountain Biocamp. Along the route, riders will be served lunch overlooking the mountainside amidst the natural beauty.
Upon arrival, friendly staff welcome guests to the camp, situated a short walk from the Lottering River – a perfect spot for a refreshing swim. Mountain Biocamp to Bloukrans Gorge Biocamp

You will navigate through forestry, transitioning to community-built trails winding through indigenous fynbos.
The route then takes you towards Natures Valley, a serene destination nestled between lush greenery. As you descend into the valley, guests are treated to a stunning lookout point offering panoramic views down into the valley. accomplishment. The Last night winds down the epic journey before heading home the following day.
The day’s riding concludes out of the valley back to Fireflys where your cars are parked, and where we will gather for a celebratory snack and drinks, reflecting on the epic adventure we have just completed.

4 Day/5 Night Namaqua To Richtersveld tour
Embark on an exhilarating 4-day/5-night mountain biking adventure that will take you from the breathtaking Nigramoep Guest Farm atop the vibrant Kasteelberg to the captivating Diamond Coast, spanning the enchanting landscapes between Namaqua and Richtersveld. Day 1 we will first cycle on the historic Copper Trail between Okiep and Nababeep.
On Day 2 you will start with the “Moep to Sea” journey as you pedal through the blooming flower-covered plateau, descending into the mesmerizing semi-desert of Richtersveld.
Prepare to be captivated by the allure of the Diamond Coast, exploring the unique cultural diversity and mineral mining history of Kleinzee and Port Nolloth in the Richtersveld. These towns, shaped by diamond mines, unveil a fascinating glimpse into the contemporary miner’s lifestyle. Port Nolloth, a charming town and domestic seaport, awaits on the north-western coast of South Africa.
Thrill-seekers will conquer over 2000 meters of exhilarating descents and ascents over the course of the three days, starting from Nigramoep Guest Farm (Namaqua) towards the West Coast town of Kleinsee (Richtersveld) and back. Day 2 promises an adrenaline-pumping descent of 1300 meters to the welcoming Houthoop Guest House. Information
Special permission and permits are obtained to ride over many private properties and would not have been possible without the support the local farmers. Day 1 we cycle on the historic Copper trail in the Nababeep and Okiep area over private farms and communal farms. The 2nd day is the longest, but fast as it is mainly downhill. You cross many private properties, and you stay at beautiful remote areas. The terrain changes from a mountainous area to desert, red dunes to the white sand at Kleinsee. You get spoilt with great food each night. The cycling routes are mostly on hard surfaces with a sandy patch now and again, but sandy roads were avoided to ensure you have a great ride
Namakwa remained a very quiet place during the cultural evolution until about 2000 years ago. This was when the Khoikhoi or Nama arrived from the area that now encompasses northern Botswana. The region is known for its cultural history, which was preserved by the Nama and Khoisan tribes. The Nama people are the largest group of Khoikhoi people.

The tourist centre of Okiep is the excellent Okiep Country Hotel. The hotel houses a very popular restaurant and bar. Each room is en-suite and the hotel has a 3 star grading. The hotel is famous for it’s amazing food
Nigramoep Guest Farm, Schaap River Canyon, Northern Cape
Nigramoep consist of beautiful renovated guest cottages and old farm houses. Most cottages and houses have 2 or more rooms. You will experience the delicious farm style home cooking of Nigramoep Guest Farm. Nigramoep does have a bar, but you can bring your own drinks as well.
Houthoop Guest house:
Die Houthoop is a guest farm in the Northern Cape, Namaqualand. The name is derived from a pile of wood, packed in a semi-circle that serves as an open air restaurant and was established in 1954.
Port Nolloth, McDougal Bay Holiday Homes:
Staying in holiday homes, right on the water’s edge of the Atlantic Ocean in McDougal Bay.

08:00 Start of the last leg of the MTB tour back towards Nigramoep Guest farm via many private farms, permission given exclusively to Trisport. Today we will ascent to Nigramoep, which is 950m climbing over 55km. We will take it easy, take a few snack and drink stops, and enjoy the beautiful views and solitude of the farms we will cycle over.
14:00 Arrive back at Nigramoep, check-in, shower, and relax, followed by a late lunch
