SOX 3 Day Trail Run – Not just another Trail run!
There are trail runs you tick off a list, and then there are those that stay with you long after the dust has settled. SOX firmly belongs in the latter category. Hosted by TriSport, SOX is not about chasing medals or polished finish lines. It is about honest running, wild terrain and the quiet satisfaction that comes from earning every kilometre.

Set in the heart of the Garden Route, you will run on pristine hiking trails in the Outeniqua Mountains on day one, experience the tranquillity of our lush, indigenous forest on SANParks trails, on day two and end off, with day three, along the stunning SANParks routes and coastline of the Garden Route. SOX takes runners deep into a landscape that demands respect. The routes are deliberately raw, moving through forests, over rocky ridgelines and along trails that feel far removed from everyday life. This is not a run where you switch off and cruise. It requires focus, grit and an appreciation for the environment you are moving through.
Why SOX?
What sets SOX apart is its balance. The course is challenging, but never reckless. Climbs are steep enough to test your legs, descents are technical enough to sharpen your attention, yet always fair. Whether you are lining up for your first proper trail event or returning for another crack at the route, SOX meets you where you are and invites you to go a little further.
TriSport’s approach to SOX is rooted in experience. The team understands that trail running is about more than distances and cut-off times. It is about flow, terrain and the story each route tells. Every section of the course has been chosen with purpose, offering variety and reward rather than unnecessary suffering. You will work hard, but you will also be reminded why you run in the first place.

Support and community
One of the defining features of SOX is its sense of community. From the start line at Fairy Knowe Hotel in Wilderness, to the final climb, runners encourage one another, share quiet moments on the trail and exchange knowing smiles at aid stations. This is an event where seasoned athletes and first-timers stand side by side, united by a shared respect for the challenge ahead.
Support on the day reflects this ethos. Aid stations are well placed, practical and welcoming, offering what runners actually need rather than excess. Volunteers understand the rhythm of the race and the demands of the terrain, creating an environment that feels both professional and personal. It is a reminder that good trail events are built on people as much as paths.

SOX also embodies TriSport’s commitment to responsible adventure. The routes showcase the beauty of the Garden Route while encouraging runners to tread lightly. Respect for the land, its wildlife and its communities is not an afterthought but a guiding principle. Participants leave with tired legs and full hearts, knowing they have experienced something special without compromising the environment that made it possible.

For those considering entering SOX, preparation is key, but perfection is not required. The event rewards steady effort, smart pacing and an open mind. Training on varied terrain, strengthening your legs for climbs and descents and spending time on your feet will serve you well. Most importantly, arrive ready to embrace the experience rather than simply chase a time.
SOX is not designed to be flashy or overproduced. Its strength lies in its authenticity. It is a trail run that respects its runners, honours its setting and stays true to the spirit of adventure. For TriSport, SOX represents everything they value about outdoor sport: challenge with purpose, connection with nature and the kind of satisfaction that can only be earned.

When you cross the finish line at SOX, you will not just have completed a race. You will have taken part in an experience shaped by the land, the people and the simple joy of moving through wild places on your own two feet.
